Maryland Heights faces lawsuit over lease violation at Sportport soccer complex

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - The City of Maryland Heights faces a lawsuit over an alleged lease violation related to the Sportport International youth soccer complex. At the center of the lawsuit is a quit claim deed that granted a public right-of-way through the Sportport property to St. Louis County. This came after lengthy discussions for new development around Sportport, and one stakeholder claims Maryland Heights violated lease terms through its actions. HSL Sports LLC, a Missouri limited liability company, filed a lawsuit against Maryland Heights and NorthPoint Development LLC earlier this week in St. Louis County Circuit Court. A spokesperson with the City of Maryland Heights tells FOX 2 that the city is consulting with attorneys "for further discussion on the matter," but declined additional comment. CHICAGO (WMBD) -- Three lottery players across Illinois have scored the top prize in the $250,000 crossword game.According to an Illinois Lottery news release, three lottery players won the top prize of the $10 scratch-off tickets, which were purchased from retailers across the state.One of the tickets was purchased at a MotoMart in Cahokia, IL. LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — Authorities say a man fatally shot at least 18 people at a restaurant and a bowling alley in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday night. A massive search for the suspect was underway. The suspect was identified as Robert Card, a trained firearms instructor. The shooting in the state’s second-largest city is the 36th mass killing in the United States this year, according to a database maintained by The Associated Press and USA Today in partnership with Northeastern University. Alhambra police shoot person after alleged robbery

At least one officer with the Alhambra Police Department shot and wounded a person Thursday morning.The shooting in the 600 block of South Fremont Avenue began as a commercial robbery, police told KTLA.However, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which took over the investigation after the shooting, said the shooting occurred at approximately 5:37 a.m. at the intersection of South Meridian and West Commonwealth avenues.The suspect, an adult male, was wounded by gunfire and transported to a hospital in "unknown condition," the Sheriff's Department said in a statement.The investigation led to the closure of nearby Emery Park School on Thursday. LAPD seeks pickup spotted in September hit-and-run in East Hollywood

The Los Angeles Police Department is looking for the driver of a blue pickup truck who fled the scene of an East Hollywood collision last month.The Sept. 20 crash at Western and De Longpre avenues occurred at about 6 a.m., after which the driver fled without stopping to help or identifying themself.Since then, police have been unable to find the truck, which resembles a 2020 Nissan Frontier, police said in on X, formerly Twitter.Anyone with information is asked to call West Traffic Detectives at 213-473-0221 or 213-473-0222.

OAKLAND — A man suffered fatal injuries Wednesday night in East Oakland when he was pinned between a car and a mini-van that were hit by a stolen SUV driven by someone who fled the scene on foot, police said.The identity of the man killed has not been released yet pending confirmation of his name and notification of his relatives. He is believed to be in his 40s.The deadly chain of events happened about 10:26 p.m. Wednesday in the 4200 block of International Boulevard.Police said the driver of a stolen Kia Sorento SUV was speeding in the eastbound lanes when it first collided with a Pontiac Vibe hatchback.
